Russel Wright's iconic "American Modern" gray pitchers were designed in 1937 and produced by Steubenville Pottery from 1939 to 1959, making the classic gray version a staple of mid-century American design for two decades. 

They are highly collectible, representing affordable, modern design for the American home, as noted by The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

NYT Archives: From the late 1930's through the 1950's, Mr. Wright was one of America's leading industrial designers and his name was a household word. Between 1939 and 1946,14 million pieces of his dinnerware were sold; “Easier Living,” written with his wife, Mary, in 1951, was for years a popular homemaking guide.
