The green "Moon & Stars" pattern canisters were produced by the L.E. Smith Glass Company, primarily in the 1960s & 1970s. The "Moon & Stars" design has a long history originating in the late 19th century, but the green canisters are specifically associated with L.E. Smith's mid-century popularization of the pattern.

While the pattern was first produced in the 1890s by the Adams Glass Company, L.E. Smith began their production of "Moon & Stars" pieces around the 1940s, with the green canisters becoming highly popular in the 1960s and 1970s.

The vibrant green color variant (often referred to as emerald green or colonial green) was specifically introduced in 1968.

These canisters are considered a classic piece of Mid-Century Modern American glassware and are popular collectibles today.
